How to make a mini unicorn

So this is Ollie, my younger mini. He is very sweet and into kids and loves everybody. Excepting maybe me currently since I dressed him up as a unicorn last weekend! Oh well he will get over it! So this is him all fussy, as usual. I didn't want to have him be a fussy unicorn so I insisted on clipping him. Big mistake! I ended up spending almost $90 on a pair of clippers (which is cheap!) and used some clipper guides from a pair of people clippers on them. They worked wonderfully!

See how much hair came off? It went very quick!
The end product! Although he has clipper lines I still think he looks better now!

Everything that came off of him.

Ah yes, so this was the saddle (which I didnt' end up using) I used two pieces of foam, one I left normal and the other I cut the ends off of to make a pommel and cantle. I used foam and fabric adhisive to glue them together.

His halter, I spray painted with fabric paint and his horn.

His horn started out as a cone that I used a knife to get the main bulk off then sanded so it was smooth (ish). You can see where I broke the tip sanding it and had to glue it back together.

The saddle almost done. I spent a lot of time on this, its too bad I didn't like it in the end. Oh and I got some help at this point. Can't see who?

Yep! That is John Tom, my horse/dog/cat. He runs around to the mission impossible theme song!

Right, actaul horse pictures now, almost unicorn. We have now sufficently glittered him, and he is starting to look pathetic. I think he knows that everyone thinks he looks like a girl, and so the glitter doesn't help.

All ready and on our way (we walked from my sisters house to the party at the church). I am suppost to be a fairy, but in the end I just threw some stuff together that looked warm. My sister wanted to be a princess so she worn an old prom dress.

I look more like a peasent then a fairy. Maybe I am a peasent fairy. Whatever I was it worked with Ollie.

Loren got some great shots of the kids, but I wasn't sure it would do to put them here, so I will just put this picture of my and Ollie on (ok and barely one kid).

We did a photo shoot back at the house.

Yep, twinkly toes works!

Please someone save me!!!

Being a great little mower and enjoying his after torture treat!

This was him later that day at home. We didn't get any good shots of the stars, but he had two pink glitter stars on his butt. The kids all wanted to touch it and kept showing us that they had glitter on them, like they didn't know where it had come from! But apperently even if all the glitter is gone the glue is still there!
And that is how to make a unicorn! (and torture your horse in the meantime!)

The great unicorn post!

Yes, we really did dress Ollie up as a unicorn! Although the day did not go as smoothly as I would have liked.
1. It was overcast! So the glitter that I spent $60 on wasn't as pretty as it could have been, and the gold dust sparkle didn't show up at all.
2. I didn't put the saddle on. The saddle I worked several hours on and stressed over quite a bit. Emily talked me into the gold faberic and I thought it ended up looking tacky.
3. Ollie it turns out does not like to have children on his back bareback. The birthday girl barely got a ride in before he bucked (luckly mini bucks are not much of anything and my sister was there holding on) It was embarassing because Ollie is usually so good with children and I didnt' want everyone to think I had brough an unsafe horse.

But other then that things went well, Ollie did look very cute, and the kids were very excited and the parents were pretty into it too. Espeshally since I cliped him, after spending $80 on clippers. Really for how much money I spent on the whole thing it would have been nicer if there hadn't been so many problems.

So I am going to post pictures on the next post of the whole process. Start to finish.

Let the horse torture begin!!

Ok so dressing Ollie up as a unicorn isn't really torture, espeshally since we decided that spray painting him white was deffinatly a bad idea!! Haha! So instead the poor guy is going to be super glittery! The more glitter the better seems to be the idea!

So here is the plan so far:

Gold twinkle toes on his hooves
Gold twinkle gel in his mane and tail
Little braids in his mane
French braid his tail
All over gold sparkle dust
Purple twinkle stars on his butt
Gold halter and rope reins
Gold saddle cloth over the top of my square pad, with foam for the pommel and cantel and a flat strap going around his middle to keep it in place
Gold horn attached to his halter (that will needs some craftiness!)

And....

Actaull that might be it! For now anyway!

This weekend I am going to give him a good bath and see if I can't get some more coat off of him. Then I might clip him if I can find or pick up clipper heads. That way if I make any mistakes they might have time to grow out and be fixed. We will see. This will be my first time doing a body clipping, or any clipping other then bridal path!

Then for my own costume, because Alicia says that I have to dress up as a fairy, I am looking to buy a cute flowery dress that I can modify and add wings to. I want to be able to wear the dress other places afterwards. If it werent' for a kids party I would just use one of my monet dresses, but those won't work for a kids party nor for being around the horses!! Too bad!

Will update as things come along and get some pictures too! I think I might pay Loren to come along with us and take pictures.

A non Lucy post

Time for Kezi, Ollie and Huck to have some blog time. Oh and me too!

So first Kezi:

So she is now on the Naproxin again, for 30 to 40 days. I know I shouldn't get my hopes up but I just love seeing her sound even if I still can't ride her!
I have bonded with her so much in the last month alone, I just know that we would get alone great out on the trail. She as been enjoying trotting from one pile of hay to another just to upset Ollie! The vet wanted her in a smaller area but I feel that she is less likely to hurt herself in a larger area. She also won't want to run around as much if she has the room to do so.
I have been taking her out for walks almost everyday, she gets so excited when I come to get her out!

Ollie:

So Ollie is going to be a unicorn! Emily asked me if I would put a horn on him for Cambrias birthday, and of course Alicia and I decided to go overboard on dressing him up! We have about a month but I need to buy the glitter for his hooves, mane and tail and body, and we need to make a medivial saddle as well as buy a new halter so I can spray paint his old one gold and make gold reins. We do have to be careful about how much we spend though!

Huck:

I think I am going to start driving again when I am up at Carolyns. And I am going to switch over to giving Emerald her lessons on Huck. He will be so pleased.

In my non-horsey life, I found out that the iphone is coming out with a big update this summer! We will be able to text pictures, copy and paste and search the iphone, among other things! I can't wait!
Oh and I was having a bunch of issues with my credit card. When they issued me a new credit card they didn't deactivate the old one. So my on line banking said that I had no balance, which was annoying because I needed to put some money on it for buying my computer since I lost my debit card. I finally got it figured out today and on Monday will be able to order my computer! Yeah! This one has been so horrible lately!

Thats about all for now!
